Canadian Muslim Forum (FMC-CMF) Expresses Deep Concern Over McGill University Event Featuring Speaker known by his Islamophobic public statement.
Following joint statement by various students’ bodies, the Canadian Muslim Forum (FMC-CMF) is deeply concerned by the upcoming event at McGill University scheduled for November 26, 2024, which will feature a personality known for his extreme and dangerous Islamophobic rhetoric. This individual has consistently espoused views marked by hatred, bigotry, and division, which directly contradict the values of inclusivity, respect, and diversity upheld by McGill University and the broader Canadian society.
The speaker in question has made numerous public statements that incite hostility toward people of Muslim faith, promoting harmful stereotypes and fostering an atmosphere of fear and distrust. Such rhetoric is not only damaging to the social fabric of student community but also undermines the principles of academic freedom and dialogue that are supposed to guide university spaces.
The FMC-CMF strongly believes that institutions of higher learning, including McGill University, should be places where ideas are exchanged in an atmosphere of mutual respect and understanding. However, allowing a speaker with a record of promoting intolerance and discrimination undermines this essential mission. The Canadian Muslim Forum urges McGill University to reconsider its decision to host this individual, as such a move is incompatible with the university’s stated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
As Canadians and Quebecers we are proud of our concepts on the protection of human rights, Canada must take a stand against Islamophobia and all forms of discrimination.
The FMC-CMF calls on McGill University to uphold the values of fairness and respect that define our society at large and to take immediate action to ensure that events hosted on its campus do not promote hate speech and division
We urge McGill University to review their approval of hosting such an event ASAP. And we call for educational institutions to create environments that foster constructive dialogue and promote understanding, rather than provide platforms for those who seek to divide and harm.

Never trust any individual who identifies as a Muslim, especially when they appear as a harmless sheep. https://x.com/MosabHasanYOSEF/status/1860793701271834684
Those who identify as Muslims are delusional or simply INSANE. Islam neither a race, nor a religion. It is a totalitarian system inspired by the delusions of the 6th century.
