Canadian Muslim Forum Welcomes Ottawa’s Decision to Intervene in Supreme Court Appeal on Bill 21

Montreal, QC – The Canadian Muslim Forum (FMC-CMF) welcomes the federal government’s decision to intervene in the Supreme Court appeal on Bill 21, the implications of the law clearly infringes on the rights and freedoms of Canadian citizens, particularly women.

FMC-CMF firmly believes that defending fundamental rights and freedoms does not infringe upon any sovereignty. On the contrary, upholding equality and fairness for all, regardless of background, is central to the core values of both Quebec and Canada.

“At a time when both Quebec and Canada face significant social and political challenges, we strongly believe that hate, bigotry, and discrimination only serve to divide communities rather than foster harmony,” stated FMC-CMF.
