In an effort to foster youth awareness and active engagement, the Canadian Muslim Forum is hosting a series of open seminars designed to educate young people about the significance of their role in public life. These seminars are especially timely in light of upcoming electoral events, including Canada’s federal elections and the Quebec provincial elections.
On Friday, February 21st, the CMF held one of these seminars at the Islamic Civilization Center in Montreal. The session, titled “The Basics of the Canadian System and the Systems in Which Elections Are Conducted,” drew a crowd of young individuals eager to learn about community involvement and political participation.
Brother Muhammad Tariq, outreach activist at the Canadian Muslim Forum and seminar director, shared his thoughts: “The goal of these seminars is to create a space for discussion, reflection, and increased understanding of the political system in Canada. This initiative aligns with the rights and responsibilities enshrined in both the Canadian Bill of Rights and the Quebec Charter of Rights and Freedoms. It is in this context that we will continue to host these crucial seminars in the future, with God’s will.”
Through these efforts, the Canadian Muslim Forum is working to empower youth with the knowledge and tools to engage more effectively in their communities and make informed decisions in the democratic process.
